Fairhope East and Fairhope West students have been asked to wear bandanas showing their school colors, prompting Original Graduates across town to locate the spirit gear they last saw before the elementary-school map developed cardinal directions.

Organizers clarified that “OG” means “Originally Graduated,” a designation available to anyone who remembers when identifying your elementary school did not require both a compass and a zoning consultation.

“I graduated from Fairhope Elementary before it had an East or a West,” said fictional alumnus Gene R. Ation. “My color is whatever was left in the lost-and-found in 1987.”

Current families were encouraged to participate with enthusiasm, school pride and a working understanding of which side of town their carline begins on.

Boundary questions referred to wardrobe committee

Parents whose children have attended both campuses asked whether two bandanas may be worn at once. The fictional Spirit Alignment Committee approved a layered option, provided neither color extends across the centerline without a variance.

Students living near an attendance boundary may wear a reversible bandana and rotate it whenever the bus makes a left turn. Siblings assigned to different schools are permitted to display both colors at home, though the kitchen will remain a neutral common area.

Original Graduates requested additional guidance. Some still own shirts from the pre-directional era; others insist their yearbook photograph establishes a lawful prior use that runs with the wearer.

Officials emphasized that the event is about community. East, West and OG participants will eventually reunite under the broader Fairhope banner, where everyone can agree that the true rival is morning traffic.

Carline has been designated the official neutral zone, largely because nobody has ever successfully claimed it.

More local ceremony awaits.
